Hello all. Hope everyone is having a good summer.

I am forwarding a copy of the Texas Instrument news letter I normally get every week.

this issue has a couple of neat Internet on a chip gadgets and I thought those of you who were real geeks might be interested. Lets make something cool with one of these, OK?

---

Lark in the Park was fun, not many contacts made but everyone had fun.

I left some important parts at home but still managed to get my battery connected and then tossed some wire I havd into the trees and tuned up on 30 meters bur never heard KM0Y who was out of town but had his little Small Wonder 30 meter CW rig with him as always. It proves that it really is true, just toss some wire in a tree and tune it up and go for it.

Any comments on the TI stuff, post them here for all to see,

Thanks and have a good month.

Easily integrate ZigBee technology into Home Gateways with TI’s new ZigBee Home Automation Gateway Reference Design

In the Internet of Things (IoT), gateways provide the link from cloud-based systems to ‘things’ enabling services in several applications. A scalable Linux-based software on TI’s SimpleLink™ ZigBee® CC2531 wireless MCU paired with the high-performance BeagleBone Black, based on TI’s Sitara™ AM335x processor, makes the new Home Automation Gateway reference design the first complete system solution of its kind.

TI is Partnering with Silica to Connect More with the IoT

Greg Peake’s lectures about TI’s IoT solutions, key enabling technologies and Wi-Fi are coming to Italy, Spain, and the U.K. this September. Seven previous seminars conducted in Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Norway, and Germany in April and May received excellent feedback, especially the hands-on training. “Customers were happy to get an overview of the technology and infrastructure required in order to take part in the IoT,” said Hakon Helsing, a field applications engineer from Silica.

Increased flexibility for power line communication with TI’s new modems

TI’s new power line communication (PLC) modems now support all three major standards across multiple spectrum bands so developers can create flexible PLC products for multiple countries and regions through a single platform. This new PLC modem platform supports G3-PLC, PRIME and IEEE-1901.2 standards across both CENELEC and ARIB frequency bands. These are ideal for use in a variety of industrial systems such as smart grid advanced metering infrastructure (AMI), solar energy installations, and building and factory automation systems.
