this is kind of cool tech, and some of the group are more into software than others.

Cool stuff.. and i bet we see some open source DSP systems  come out in a year or so..
using both analog front ends and open source modular DSP code that you can
put together like building blocks, or write your own DSP code.  
Add a DDS or SI570 style freq source and you are good to go!
