[HBQRP] FW: Homebrewers QRP Group

Today, I had the pleasure of attending the builders meeting of the
Homebrewers QRP in Ashland, NE.  Every month a group of QRPers from the
Lincoln/Omaha area meet at the Bordeaux Pizza Place in Ashland and build
kits.  Today I showed up along with Darrel and Joanne Swenson.  Two years
ago, Dar Piatt came to Pacificon unannounced and surprised me.  So, I
decided to return the favor.  I drove all the way from Dos Palos, CA to
attend the meeting.  Dar had given me his personal invitation to attend a
meeting anytime that I was in Omaha.  So, I was looking forward to returning
the surprise.  We show up at the meeting, and guess who doesn't come?  Yep,
Dar.  He sent an email to Darrel saying something about a lame excuse of
having to attend a daughter's college graduation.  Come on Dar, where are
your priorities?  You missed a QRP meeting for a graduation??  
Ok.  The meeting was great, and as I like to do when I visit clubs, I
donated a kit for a raffle.  We put all the names of the regulars in a hat,
and guess who had his name drawn?  Yep, you guessed it.  The prize a brand
new Tut 160 Meter kit.  Wait a minute.  The guys said that there was a rule
that you have to be present to win.  So Dar, you missed it.  We drew again,
and Ray McNally was the winner.  Should have seen the big smile on his
face!!  One of the guys said, boy, will Dar be upset, he missed a FREE
transceiver kit. 

I really recommend that you attend a meeting if you are ever in Omaha, just
don't count on Dar being there, even though he gives you an invitation.
