Hi HBqrp group,

This is mostly directed to Sean, but as I didn't copy down his e-mail address I am sending it to the HBqrp group until I get a reply and can put it in the address book..
Heres an interesting VNA project that looks do-able by someone who has the ability to make PC boards...

Also, for something a little less complicated to build, is an ESR capacitance meter.I have been following some of the talk on the qrp-tech  e-list, and this has beena topic for a couple of days.  It looks like something that would be easy to buildand would provide some use to the ham who is checking out capacitors in equipmentto see if a cap. is bad.  Oh, ESR -> Equivalent Series Resistance..  A capacitor should have a very low one if it is good.  These testers should let you test the capacitor "In Circuit" so long as you have the device powered down.  So you don't have to unsolder every cap!

There is also a very simple circuit posted to the qrp-tech yahoo group' files section where you can build a very simple OSC and driver out of a 4049 inverter chip and a few passive parts which will allow you to use your O-scope as an ESR meter.
