A few ideas I have...

I wonder if there would be an easy way to add something to it so that it would be able to reply back or record? Maybe a micro-controller and EEprom or something? I think it would be REALLY cool to have something you could put out in the field, go back to "the shack" and check out the pattern of your Yagi as you rotate it. OR you could walk around the area and poke a button to record a record number and (relative) F.S. number that could be retrieved for a PC to plot the signal in a spreadsheet.

Having it record, you could go back and make "before" and "after"
measurements...

A small micro controller chip with simple 'on chip' built in A/D converter would fill the bill, and then software would allow flexibility as to how you would like it to work... If you want more than just a couple of buttons, then you maybe add on a cheap DTMF RX chip and attach your HT in the field and you could have it record the value after the digit goes away while you sit in your shack, or even reply in Morse over the HT if you get creative.

Ah well, just a few ideas I thought I would throw out there as food for thought... I am sure you could come up with some ideas to expand on this... Guess I will crawl back in my hole for a while..
