Hello Everyone,
Well, we all arrived home again safe and sound from our few days in
Branson. I believe I may speak for all the folks from our little group
when I say; we all had a fantastic time and had great fun.
The Friday night build had 22 folks and 20 completed their
Injector/Tracer kits and all were functional - Yippee!!
Saturday morning I gave my presentation (with Darrel's support) on how
to use the gadget. All went quite well until the receiver mockup moved a
little and fell off the platform. It shorted out the receiver and the
presentation was over. Murphy was in the house.
In spite of that issue, most everyone complemented Darrel and me on a
great presentation and on keeping our 'cool' when things went bad. Ya
just never know. Repairs will be made and I will consider loaning the
mockup out to anyone interested is using it for presentations at other
club meetings or with the Scouts and stuff like that.
Other stuff - of course, Joe won another prize in the raffle (go
figure). Darrel won a Hendrix Dual bander HF QRP kit and I got a DC40a
to play with. I think Brian won a kit from Rex at www.qrpme.com
<http://www.qrpme.com/> too. Can't recall if anyone else won anything.
We all have neat stuff to show this weekend.
Joe will have pictures at the meeting for us all to look at.
Branson was a really great place to have this event, nice hotel and the
food Friday night was out of this world. (Prime rib!)
There were lots and lots of things to do and places to go (like Dick
Clark's for a burger).
The 4State QRP group did a really good job setting this up and making
sure everyone had a great time. They are a great bunch of folks.
And - a special THANKS to Doug (KI6DS) who supplied the kit for the
build-a-thon and Ken LoCasale for his design work on the circuit board
for the kit. We had no issues during the build, everything fit and
worked. Yes!
Don't forget May's meeting this Saturday at 11:00 CT at the Breadeaux
pizza place in Ashland, NE - Visitors are always welcome.
See you there, bring something for "Show and Tell" and something to work
(solder) on.
73's all.
