Hi HBQRP groupies!

I got an intresting e-mail from the QRSS Knights reflector today that I
thought I would share with the group as some of the HBQRP members have
been working toward QRSS RX and TX...

The links in the copied e-mail show some signal changes to 30M QRSS
signals that seem to come from reflections off airplanes, as you
will note the 9 hz shift in RX freq.. Kind of cool if you ask me! :)

On the grabber screen shot you will see w1bw 's MEPT transmission "W" in
the middle of the RX waterfall.. so you can RX and still run a
"manned experimental propigation transmission" system .. just not at
exactly the same time! :)

I remember posts a couple of months ago about airplane doppler on 6m from
the UK. I thought I would share some local airplane reflections on 30m.

In the upper right of my grabber is a signal from W1XP, who is conveniently
low enough on frequency to be in the visual segment. W1XP is about 20km NW
of me. Air traffic from two major airports comes into play here: KBED, a
major general aviation airport about 5km east of me with a lot of bizjet
traffic, and KBOS (Boston), which is in the lower right of the image about
35km ESE from me. There is also a major navagational VOR very close to
W1XP's location, a major en route waypoint and the funnel for aircraft
approaching KBOS when they are landing south.

The nice part about this capture is that you can even see the bit pattern is
the same. At first I assumed this was an approaching or departing aircraft
from KBED which are 500-1000m above me, but a -9Hz doppler toward end works
out to about 290mph (480km/h) receeding reflector, which is too fast for
something that low.

The lines on the map are wspr paths, not aircraft paths :-).
