How sophisticated do you want your station to be?
     I used an ELK, great antenna,,, but it on a  tripod-rotor on my roof 
mounted at 25 degrees, and worked about everything there  was to work.   Yes 
elevating it was sometimes helpful, but don't think  you HAVRE to have a 
fancy system to work the birds. Start simple, get on the  air, sork some, then 
modify as needed, IF needed.
There is more than one Ham Sat list, maybe we don't need more than  one?

I haven't got my station set up yet, and am
using the  list for helping me decide what kind of antennas, what kind of
tracking  system, etc.  If (or more likely when) I have a question, I'm sure
I'll  be checking in and asking the general population for  help.
