It has at least 5 additional controls and an unidentified knob which do not exist in any 
"normal" SP-600: a calibrator switch top-center, Noise Limiter switch under left dial 
escutchen, audio speaker/phones switch under right escutchen, on/off switch at bottom 
center, the AGC Fast/Slow switch, and the knob above that, and there may be other 
differences, but those are the ones I spotted right off..

The letter "M" under the SP-600 JX-11 means "Modified". Furthermore that SP 600 JX-11 
sign is never in that place nor configured like that in any normal SP-600.

As Les said, probably a Leary modified receiver. I understand that he did a lot of those.
