Haven't a clue wrt serial number correlation to mfg year. But...My first 129-X (which I still have) is s/n 1851. It has the red "Hammarlund" and "HQ-129-X" panel lettering, and a slightly lighter shade of gray panel that my later s/n 14200 which has all white panel lettering. Both s/n's have white striping. The original s/n 1851 served me so well during the mid to late 50's as a cw-crazy general, that when I found an SP-600, I JUMPED on it. Wow! That was perhaps the smartest acquisition I ever made as a ham. Still have that one, too.

I guess I'm coming late to the HQ-129-X serial number discussion. Did it
go anywhere...is there a file somewhere that can match s/n to a year of
production? I think mine is a very early one; if there is a list I will
add to it.
