Receiver via an SRS FS710 Splitter.

There's a chap on e-Bay (BG7TBL) selling an FA-2 Counter for
about $115 that's a bargain. It works up to about 6 GHz and
is quite accurate.

Just which model counter are you using?  Most are accurate beyond the 10 kHz point.  Even the Chinese counters costing around $10.00 are accurate to at least the nearest 10 Hz point.  What were the digits following the "9"?
