[Hammarlund] Happy Veterans Day

Yanks, Canucks, Brits, Aussies, Zedders, even Rooskies the second time, all fought and died together against a common enemy back then!

I remember buying them on the street back in the 1950s.

Poppies are very much a part of Remembrance day ceremonies here in Canada.
Everyone wears one for a few days leading up to today.

And the line IS blow between the crosses row on row, not grow.

In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

The author, John McCrea was a Canadian. Regardless, Veterans day in the US,
Remembrance Day in Cda, we owe a great deal to our veterans.

A million years ago, when I was in grammar school, we made
paper poppies for Armistice day, now Veteran's day. Those
interested in why poppies became a symbol should see:

Note the note that the word "blow" in the first stanza was meant
to be "grow".
