Greetings to the List:
What Richard said.
I will add that I replaced the Send-Receive switch on my HQ-129-X with a
four position rotary switch. I did this so I could switch in the crystal
calibrator that I added. I wanted to control the calibrator easily (not
hide the switch under the lid) but I also did not want to drill any extra
holes in the front panel or make any other visible modifications. In my
HQ-129, one position to the left of "Send" is send plus calibrator, and one
position to the right of "Receive" is receive plus calibrator. Thus the
switch need only be operated one position from whichever position it
normally lives in to engage the calibrator (in my case send, since the
HQ-129 is paired with a Johnson Ranger in a duplicate of my novice station
from 1962).

Jim T.
