[Hammarlund] HQ-180 Dial Removal

Has anyone on here ever removed the two dials from a HQ-180 receiver?  
If so, I'd like to get some knowledge from you on how to do it.   I want 
to have new dials made as the old ones are yellowed in spots on the 
round dials.  (I've made arrangements to have them made with my old ones 
as templates.)  I realize you need to take off the front panel.  
However, can you remove the circular dials by merely loosening the dial 
hub screws or do you also need to remove everything in front of them?  
I'm hoping the dials can be removed without removing anything but the 
knobs and front panel.  Anyone knowledgeable on this subject on here?
