To All those who sent notes and information and links...I thank you for 
sharing.

Here is the solution that worked, saving me from ordering online.

As I said, another trip to the well equipped hardware store was in 
order. I asked for nut clips and was met with a blind stare.....the guru 
in the store when I described my need to him said "oh those are Extruded 
U nuts". The store has rows of drawers with small parts that are similar 
to what you see in ACE Hardware stores. Living in Ft Lauderdale which is 
a heavy marine and boat community helps out with parts stores.

Anyway they had cage nuts and these "Extruded U nuts" in various sizes. 
I picked the one that matched the screws and washers I had and hoped 
they fit. 50 cents each BTW.

I'm not good at lifting the big radios anymore but I did removed it from 
the cabinet, and pushed the nut clips in place. The fit putting the 
radio back in was very very tight...But it worked! The crews fit and 
secured the cabinet to the radio...

Maybe not the technical story or explanation we usually see here and 
other sites, but someone somewhere might be as naive as I was and afraid 
to ask. I simply always had the radios on the shelf the past 10 years, 
and never needed to fasten them
