[Hammarlund] HX-500 Dial drum chain stringing

Anyone ever had to restring the dial CHAIN for the HX-500?  The pointer 
string is covered in the manual, but the ball chain that drives the dial 
drum is not.

I am having trouble seeing how this is supposed to move through the 
pulleys: nothing seems to line up.  When I think I have it, it ends up 
creating considerable tension on the line and eventually slips. I don't 
want to strip the pulleys on the band switch or the drum, so I'd 
appreciate any advice anyone might have to offer as to how it is 
properly routed.

The rig is running well now!
