I would suggest you talk to someone at this URL:

They make new cores for ruined transformers such as yours. You
disassemble the old transformer, keep the E-I laminations and the end-bells,
and they make you a new core to your specifications.
Then you reassemble the transformer.
According to both a recent article in ER Magazine, and to other reports I have
read from the various forums, Heyboer does an excellent job for a VERY
reasonable price.
In the ER Mag article, the author lost the unobtainable power transformer for
the modulator in a Globe King 500B. Heyboer supplied him with a perfect
replacement core for $50.00 plus shipping.
