I vote for the step-down transformer route, Andrea.
However, you can also try the following:
1) Disconnect the receiver from power mains.
2) Measure the resistance of the clock motor with an accurate digital ohmeter. You will need to disconnect one of the two wires to the clock for this measurement.
3) Determine the power consumption of the motor using Ohm's law.
4) Put a resistor of the same value and safe power rating (x 2) in series with the motor.
5) Reconnect the receiver and check for operation.
