[Hammarlund] HQ-129X question

>From reading the Electric Radio article last month the author said the line 
that started with the HQ-120 all had an s meter with DB readings above S9. 
My HQ-120 agrees with this.

However the HQ-129X I have only reads to S9 although there is a slight space 
above S9.  Plus the only part of the S meter is the actual scale the rest is 
hidden behind the front plate.  AM broadcast pins the meter and some ham 
signals do the same.

Is this the normal for the HQ-129X?
