Off topic, I know, but a nice bit of story, Duane. My mother's family was from Newfoundland and probably had been there since its early days (the name LeGrow is as common as smith is here), I must have some Irish in me somewhere as quite a few got off the boat there before it got to New York.

I found a few Irish tunes on youtube, one from about 1850 discussing the "wrongs of dear old Ireland". The other is from the Napoleonic Wars. The British were fond of recruiting the locals from wherever they were colonizing for men to send up front. They were more expendable. The song is an anti-recruitment song. Both are from the 1970's by a fellow named Paul Brady.

The first is sung without accompaniment while sitting in a pub, the other on a TV show.
