Thanks again for replies. I will build a lead twister and try it on a couple of 'easy to get to' capacitors. My thought is to also use heat shrink
tubing to prevent possible shorts and also add more strength to the joint (and cover the joint).
My SP600 is in excellent condition, and rather than rush head-long into it, I have requested the techniques used by others. I don't want to
damage anything because (1) it will be more work to replace or repair the damage, (2) Hammarlund parts are much less available and a lot more expensive than I remember about 10 years back, (3) I hate to see radios that have been harmed more by being repaired/modified, and (4) this
radio is a keeper.
I have learned some great tips on what to do and what not to do. I am very appreciative of this group being available for help and advice.
