[Hammarlund] OR codes

At the risk of looking stupid, please explain what a QR Code is, how it 
works, what one must do to initiate this process...and since I'm living 
"deep in the weeds" of NW North Dakota and have two non-ham children, this 
would be of great benefit. At least point me to a link that explains it all.
