There is one other thing that can make the problem worse: the old lube in the
various pulleys has gotten hard and no longer has any "slip" making the dials
more difficult to turn.
This also includes the bearings in the tuning capacitor itself. However,
correcting binding there requires special techniques and the proper kind of
lube.
