Hi Bob,
First... I have never had to do anything to a couple of similar dials I
have had. But..other guys who had them said they first cleaned the edges
of that dial disc and one or two said they kinda sorta polished their
metal edged disc with fine steel wool to add just a little more
friction. It's not really polishing but just enough to break up a glaze
that may have developed. I would try a good cleaning with mild dish soap
(well rinsed). Be careful not to use anything on those dials that could
destroy the plastic or wash off the printed scales.Those HQ dials are
too cool. I often wish I still had mine.
