A.k.a. the SP-150 as mentioned. Along with removing the BFO they added a
Jensen JHP-51 15" speaker which must've been the cat's meow back then for a
home receiver, especially with the variable IF and P-P audio output.
They never really caught on and were discontinued within a year or so. They
do show up from time to time, either in rough shape or asking
multi-thousand dollars which never seem to bring. Think I've seen three in
the last year and know of one through a friend which is lacking its
speaker. I've got a pair of Collins lobby speakers here with slightly
newer JHP-52s in them, one will get lashed to the SP-100 this winter and
the other to the SP-10 once it gets restored. No fancy wood cabinet, but
having the BFO will be nice.
Certainly an interesting and scarce version, and quite a departure from the
black wrinkle, utilitarian appearance of the typical set.
