Not sure which one you're referring to Mike, as there were 2-3 listed at
the time. If you're referring to the original post for the set offered by
Jim Shoemaker, many of us know and/or have done business with him over the
years. I don't think anyone was questioning his character, rather the
higher-than-typical-collector price on a set that clearly had numerous
non-factory mods. There is much more to condition than clean paint. Added
holes diminish value considerably for a collector, less so for a user. That
said, why would anyone pay a kilobuck for a set that can be had, albeit not
as often as a SP-200, for $300-$600? Jim's set has a lot going for it
including the original supply, and aside from the hole blasted in front for
the extra knob, it looks like the rear mods could all be reversed with a
little time and effort. I just figure those things into the price when
buying.

That's the good thing about the free (for now) market: the seller and buyer
get to determine what is fair. More power to Jim if he can get $999 for
that set.
