[Hammarlund] Comet Pro Questions

I just picked up a nice Comet Pro at a swapmeet today and need some help. The good news is that the set works and although dirty, is in pretty nice shape.


1.  My first question is what model I have. It doesn't seem to match the pictures in the BAMA manuals, in Rider's or on the Hammarlund historian site. It has a 47 output tube. On the front panel, there are two toggle switches at the bottom. (The pictures in the manual show only one toggle switch). There is a Triplett S meter in the upper left-hand corner. (None of the manual pictures show an S meter). On the bottom, there are three pots, instead of the two shown in the manuals. (The third pot may be a mod from Ghiardi's Radio Troubleshooter's Handbook).


2. Any idea where I can get a schematic or, better yet, a manual for this particular model?

3. I have the AA, BB, CC and DD coils and understand what they are. However, I also have EE coils (250-550m) and XX coils (8-16m). Any idea what these are for?

4. How many watts will this receiver put out? I'm asking because I'm going to get an audio xformer to match the 4K output impedance to an 8-ohm speaker. I don't want to use one that can't handle the wattage.

5. Any tips for cleaning the cabinet's wrinkle finish?

6. Any other restoration tips? I replaced the 'lytics before I tried the set. I plan to replace the paper caps and out-of-spec resistors in the next few days.
