I guess SP-600s are like Lay's potato chips: you can't have just one.
I went through some old stuff that I had forgotten about and found this junker. It has no FCU and has an IF gain control where the FCU control is normally located. From the Hammarlund Historian site, I gather that this is a J-4. It's dirty and a little rusty but it's mostly all there. It plays fairly well but it definitely needs some TLC. NOw that I have some experience with SP-600s, I'm ready to tackle this one.
Here are my questions:
1. What's the appropriate manual to use for this set?
2. Does anyone have a nomenclature tag (R-320A/FRC) they might be willing to sell?
3. The tuning-cap cover is missing. Does anyone have one they might be willing to sell? A J-4 one would be nice but I'd be willing to settle for any kind just to keep dirt out of the tuning caps.
4. Is there anything special about this model that I should be aware of?
As always, thank you for your help. Without it, I would have never gotten through the JX-14 that I just finished.
