[Hammarlund] HQ 129 X serial number and date purchased NEW

Hello David. I have HQ 129 X serial number 12476. I am second owner. It was purchased during the summer of 1948 at Montgomery Ward in Sherman, Texas. I got it from the estate of the original owner whose name I do not know. An ebay store in Gainesville, Texas  disposed of it for his estate and I bought it. 

I am positive about the information because the original owner drew a block diagram on a sheet of paper and put the acquisition information on it. He then glued the paper to the inside of the top lid of the receiver.

I have re capped it and briefly fired it up to see how it worked and found the gain to be very low. I did not clean switches or align it. I have so many vintage radios to work on that I just set it aside as a "round tuit".

It is not great cosmetically, but will eventually turn out very nice.

I will probably pair it up with my Hammarlund four twenty transmitter and four eleven modulator and maybe my Viking 1 for double duty.
