[Hammarlund] HQ 129X Serial numbers

Richard, I have Hammarlund 129X serial number 12476 that was purchased at Montgomery Ward in Sherman, Texas during the summer of 1948 for $139.00.

I know that because the original owner,who purchased it in the summer of 1948, glued a hand drawn block diagram in the lid with a notation "purchased at Montgomery Ward in Sherman, Texas summer 1948 for $139.00".

The receiver is as original and I recapped it, but it is still kinda deaf!!

I am the second owner and I purchased it from an ebay seller who was disposing of things in the original owner's estate. The only thing I purchased was the Hammarlund HQ 129X receiver.

I hope this helps you date your receiver. The 4 in the serial number resembles an A, but I think it is a 4. 73, John, K5PGW
