[Hammarlund] 6 meter coverage?

The Ameco CB-6 and CN-50 converters are very common (read "very cheap") and can be adapted to various receiver frequencies.  Both have very good sensitivity on 50 MHz with the CN-50 having a very slight edge.  I have a number of different converters and find the Ameco to be excellent.

With the HQ-150 I would suggest either a 7 MHz i.f. or 14 MHz i.f.  Using this range will give much better bandspread than using either a 26 MHz or 28 MHz i.f.

I'm getting an HQ-150 refurbished, and am interested in extending its coverage to 6 meters. I would appreciate any suggestions for good receiving performance on 6 meters--used tube type converter? Build a glowbug converter from QST 19XX? Kanga solid state kit? Other possibilities?

Thanks a bunch,
