[Hammarlund] HQ-120X QUestion (6F8)

Guys, I need some advice.

There are at least two different verisions of the HQ-120X. One difference that I've noticed is the wiring of the 6F8.

On the version I have, one of the grids of the 6F8 is fed by a 20K resistor and one of the cathodes is grounded. (On Bama, this is the 73 KB schematic). On the other version, one of the grids of the 6F8 is fed by a 10K resistor and one of the cathodes goes through a 230 Ohm resistor to ground. (Om Bama, this is the 614 KB manual). I have no idea which version came first.

Is one better than the other? Should I reduce the 20K resistor to 10K on mine and put a 230-Ohm resistor between the cathode and ground?

I am in the process of replacing caps and out-of-spec resistors. The receiver is performing well but the audio gain is a bit less than I expected. (Maybe my SX-28 has spoiled me!).

As always, thank you for your advice and guidance.
