Thank you, David. The APPLICATION is the hard part: i.e., installing
the "good ideas" without inadvertently screwing up something else in
the process. Furthermore, it BETTER look like the factory did it, or
I won't do it.

Considering the state of the art at the time, it was an excellent
effort, especially at its relatively low cost for the time, but it
sure isn't up to what we use today, and should be reasonably easily
fixable.

Gaaackkkkk!! :-(

Well, if I had it, I wouldn't necessarily strip it completely out.
What I would do is to restore every part of it that I didn't plan to
upgrade. However, that particular receiver WOULD be an excellent one
to experiment with. It is already pretty much useless as is, and
could probably be made into something useful. And it would be a lot
of fun doing it too.

For instance, I have two RCH/SLR-F Scott receivers: one has been
pretty well hacked up, and the other has a few minor issues. I'll
restore the second one, and experiment with the hacked one. Can't
hurt it any, and I just might improve it a bit. Anyway, it'll be fun
trying.

If I had had such a receiver, so would I ! ;-)

My HQ-110C was given to me by an ex-CBer, and was a POS when I got
it.

I wish I had had one when I was a Novice back in 1956. It is a far,
far better receiver than my AR-3 ever was, even in its original
condition.

I think I remember your asking about a source for that transformer,
and am glad one of the boys came through for you.

Will do, David. I am usually very slow at such projects, as I take it
one thing at a time, testing between stages. I would be called a
"belt and suspenders" type, I strongly suspect.

I prefer to start with the simplest part and work towards the most
complex part of any project, even mowing the lawn. :-)
