If you are amenable to a fairly simple modification
(easily reversible by addng a small sub-chassis),
find the schematic of the product detector and AGC
circuitry from the National NCX-3 transceiver and
add that to your 129. That's what I did to my
HQ-145X back in 1963 or 1964. Beautiful SSB audio
AND very smooth AGC.
