If your cabinet is black, it could be from a different receiver. As
Richard points out, the 600 cabinet had many small, square openings
along the sides and back, not louvers. Earlier SPs had louvered
cabinets. The 600 cabinet also has a round hole part way up the back
about the size of a quarter for the feedline to pass through. I've
seen two colors of gray used, one about twice as dark as the panel and
the other much closer to black. When you place it next to a true black
wrinkle, it appears as dark gray.

There probably isn't a lot of heat under the chassis since the tubes
and transformers are all above, and convection forces warmer air up.
It's by no means an air tight seal around the front panel, so air can
indeed enter around the bottom edge of the panel or the back apron. If
there had been an issue beyond this, I'm sure Hammarlund would have
dealt with it. Elevated line voltage is likely the biggest contributor
these days.

Original cabinets for the 600 aren't rare, but could probably be
considered scarce since the vast majority of receivers were rack
mounted. Unhacked, they can bring a pretty good price.
