True story. Only one problem with it: that was the old house up north.
The new one is a single level ranch, no basement, with 8 rooms vs. 19
in the old Victorian. I figure we have about one third the square
footage here, if that. The only saving grace is the 3 garages and
small play/pool house, of which all but one are full to the brim. And
that's after leaving a good thousand pounds of gear behind to be
scrapped.
Fortunately this place is just a temporary stopping point. Though the
conditions for radio are superb: very quiet.

There's certainly some truth to that, too! But she's also
extreeeeeeeeemely tolerant of my 'stuff'. Both guest bedrooms are full
of radio gear, 'tastefully displayed' (that's the secret) on wooden
shelves. One room is old wooden battery TRF and electric sets and the
other is everything else that isn't in the radio room/garage. I also
have 4 shelves of display tubes and old mics in the living room area,
and one large wall-mounted display case for the really early stuff.
She even let me use her bay of the garage for a month or so this
summer after moving the rest of the stuff south, until I had time to
sort/sell/toss more of it. I made sure it got cleaned out fast,
though. I know what side my bread is buttered on. (o:
Steve, Johnny, and Joe/PJP have stayed over here. Ask them next time
you see 'em just how well I've crammed ten pounds of....stuff into a
five pound bag.
