In my opinion, the HQ-129X was the very best in its price class at 
the time. I have one of those too. Really like it.

But the SP-200 line is still my favorite. 

The instability problem can be fixed fairly easily by the addition of 
a 3 pfd N750 cap in parallel with the oscillator tuning cap, and a 
careful selection of tubes.
