Mike:
I have an HQ-110C which was given to me. I really like the receiver,
especially considering the era in which it was designed.
I discovered that unless you ground the CORRECT side of that dual
terminal strip for a dipole antenna on the rear panel, that
sensitivity will be low on all bands, but especially on 160 and 80.
After I discovered that and installed the jumper, measured
sensitivity on all bands was under 1 microvolt.
You have to look at the schematic to determine which side to ground.
The reason for this is that it uses a "few-turn" link to couple the
antenna to the antenna coil, and if you leave one side of that link
open, the input impedance is VERY high and won't properly match most
antennas.
