No way! Say it isn't so! But if you're right, I bet there are already
receivers out there that address these alien modes. (o:

Well, you could also say no ham requires more than one radio, or
multiples thereof, too. Yet I know of few old radio types who only
have one radio. I seldom have visitors, yet HiFi Audio is indeed a
requirement here for long term operation, unless I want to get a
headache or suffer from audio fatigue. Rumor has it that listening to
pinched, restricted audio for long periods of time, such as during
contests, creates GOM (Grumpy Old Man) Syndrome, too. I love my 75A-4
for use during crowded or otherwise crappy band conditions, but the 6
or 3.1kHz grate on my nerves after a half hour or so. Particularly
with fewer folks on the bands going forward, listening should be more
enjoyable and less of a chore, not that digging out a weak station
can't be a fun challenge.

Just be careful about grabbing those 6F6s after extended use. They've
been known to keep finger prints of the unsuspecting firmly attached.
Then there's the B+ waiting in those unsuspecting places like IF cans
and the back apron....
