Concerning my addition of a triode product detector to my original BC-779: I
used the 6N7 noise limiter tube.

In the BC-779, that tube, a dual-power-triode, has both sections connected in
parallel.

I originally planned to use 1/2 of it for the PD, and leave the other 1/2
connected as the noise limiter.

Trouble is, the 6N7 has only one cathode for the two triodes, so I ended up
with no noise limiter at all.

What I should have done is to replace the 6N7 with a 6BL7GT, dual-power-
triode, which has two completely independent triodes in it, each with almost
the same characteristics as the 6N7's triodes.

That way, I could have left the noise limiter as found, yet added the PD.

I have one BC-779 in which a previous owner had removed ALL of the push-
pull 6F6 audio stages, and built a power supply in their place, using a single
6V6 for the audio output.

Overall, it is a nice receiver...except for the butchery.

I'll experiment with that one.
