I thought that some of you might find this of interest even though it is not
a Hammarlund.

      21st Century Hallicrafters Reproduction Announced!

I was more than a little startled this morning when I
received a fax from a representative of the Halligan family.
Apparently my acquisition of the call sign of William
Halligan Sr., W9WZE, caught their attention.

The phenomenal resurgence of interest in Hallicrafters
products sparked an idea in one of the grandson's mind. He
set to work over a year ago on a project to recreate an exact
reproduction of the most rare and sought after Hallicrafters
item. The Hallicrafters SX-88 receiver.

This is an exact component for component copy of the
original receiver introduced in 1954. This 20 tube, six
band, dual conversion masterpiece is called the SX-88K. The
'K' representing the year 2000.

It covers 535 Khz - 33 Mhz with that smooth as silk
mechanical flywheel tuning. The selectivity of 250 Hz to 10
Khz in six steps is incredible. It hears what other receivers
only have ghost images of! Where else can you find a 10 watt
audio amplifier, delayed AGC, locking tuning dial and
exalted BFO in the 1950's?

Because the reproduction of this most classic
Hallicrafters receiver will generate hitherto unimagined
demand, many who wish to own this reproduction will be left
with cash in hand and heartbroken. Wrong!

Because the grandson is determined to make it available
to the common Hallicrafters devotee, not just the ones with
Gold lined wallets, production will continue until the demand
ceases. To insure that those who want one can afford it, the
price will be actual production cost plus 7%! The actual
price to be announced on October 31, 2008. The first units
should ship on, or about, February 2, 2009.

Because the grandson has a passionate love for
Hallicrafters, rivaled only by his hate for EBAY, all
purchasers of the SX-88K will be required to sign a
declaration stating that the receiver can never be sold on
any electronic auction ever for any reason whatsoever. If
this agreement is breached, the seller is subject to repay
the manufacturer, or the manufacturers agent, a sum equal to
fifty times the original purchase price of the receiver.

If you are interested in owning one of these
classic reproductions, please contact Amiel Spoofenstat in
Hilversum, Holland at: 001-31-35-672-4422. Be sure to ask for
his personal Secretary, Sloof Lirpa.
