Please join us tomorrow Sunday September 19th for the HHI
(Halligan's Hallicrafters International) 20 meter Net. You
do not have to be using, or even own, vintage radio
equipment. Just having an interest in the wonders that still
go glow in the dark is adequate.

The Pre-Net is at 12:30 PM EDT, or 1630 UTC. The HHI Net
proper commences at 1:00 PM EDT, or 1700 UTC.

The frequency is still 14.293 MHZ USB +/- for key clicks,
mike splatter and someone somewhere shouting "CQ DX" or
"Contest!" No matter, they have rights too. It is just that
sometimes they get in our way!

Last Sunday when I parked on 14.2925 MHZ and asked if the
frequency was in use, I got a reply that it was from a Ham in
Germany on 14.292 MHZ. Now to make it more curious, I was
only using 35 watts and my beam was ponted at Florida! I
figured that the bands must be decent for a change, as it is
not very common for me to work Germany with 35 watts and my
beam having a side in his direction! So I worked him for the
heck of it.

Truthfully I had not worked a single DX station since my
return to the air in late April after the sudden stroke that
felled me on December 27, 2009. For whatever the reasons, my
heart just was not in it. I did our Hallicrafters Nets, but
that was all. So last Sunday after working Germany off the
side with only the excitor, I tried to work some DX after the
Halli Net was done.

Three hours later, about 5:00 PM EDT, or 2100 UTC, I was
exhausted and called it a day. I managed to selectively work
twenty-five countries and thirty-four different stations.
Since I have 142 countries confirmed, and over 153 worked, I
tried to be somewhat selective and not just work someone for
the sake of numbers.

I had a lot of fun and truly enjoyed myself. It was great to
be able to be on the air again and do what I wanted to do.

So please warm up those wonders that still go glow in the
dark without a Radium infusion and join us tomorrow for some
vintage facts, radio fun and fantastic fibs. I hope to hear
you tomorrow!

Oh yes. To those of you who have written, or telephoned me,
asking for some more radio poetry, Frogzilla Files Adventures
or radio tales with a humerous twist, be patient! I am
working on some new things. Stay tuned!

                 The Legend Of Hallicrafters

There once was a man named Bill Halligan,
Who said to his critics you bet I can!
So he built the receivers,
Made the doubters believers,
And that's the story of Hallicrafters.

>From Texas came collector Chuck Dachis,
Who rescued Halli's from landfills and matches.
The family trees in a book,
For a small price you can look,
And help heal his ailing Hallicrafters.

Then from the Swiss mountains of ice,
Came HB9RS with words quite nice.
Dr. Max wrote the book,
So that all of you can now look,
At his book, The Hallicrafters Story!

Then along came an extraordinary frog,
Who squatted in a Hams wetland bog.
Frogzilla is the amphibians name,
And Ham Radio just isn't the same,
But his mischievous tales do amuse!
