    Before this goes any further I want to say a word of 
thanks for all those who have made suggestions and passed 
along information. I hope none of my replies has been too 
terse to disguise the fact that I am very grateful for the 
help. I know a very great deal more about these RX than I 
did before.
    I am not sure what the problem is. If its mechanical 
misalignment of the capacitors its not obvious from 
inspection. Adjusting the caps would require removing the 
tuning unit from the chassis. I am not quite perpared to do 
that, at least just yet. I think it is more likely to make 
things worse than better.
