Thus the need to scrap the original xtal filter if going with multi pole 455 
versions. An external digi readout is required in any case if you really 
want to know your frequency.

I have enough of near mint untouched as builts as well as lovingly restored 
radios that I dont mind digging into a few models that will never dry up; 
especially if they look as if they have been driven hard and put away wet.
