By the way, tube type TV power transformers also work very well as plate modulation transformers.  Hook the center tapped high voltage secondary leads to push-pull modulator tubes, feed the modulator B+ to the center tap, and then feed the final B+ (and screen voltage if there is a screen) through the original 120 volt primary.

There are all sorts of purists who say that this won't work.  However, no one ever told the power transformer that it can't be used as a modulation transformer and therefore it works very well!
