[Hammarlund] HQ180 alignment 60KHZ

Mike Taylor reel2reel at hotmail.com

Put my HQ-180 back in service after six years in storage. Still works great but needs some alignment. My Knight sig generator only goes down to 160khz. Any ideas on a cheap way to generate a 60 khz signal for the associated IF's? In the past I just peaked the cans for maximum output with no antenna attached. Not the best way to do things. I'd like to do it right this time. As for the "sweep" adjustments, any way around having to buy equipment to do that? I'd still like to get some wider bandwith on AM. But it's a great receiver and I shouldn't complain. However my job recently evaporated with the economy so I have a lot of spare time to spend with the radios that I didn't have before. Go figure...Work and have money but little time for the hobby. Laid off and lot's of time for the hobby but no money. Must be a balance somewhere. 73's...Mike
