Tisha has an interesting approach. Wish I'd heard of it a year ago, when I
redid the front panel on a BC-779. I stripped it down, then used a brass
Dremel brush to remove all of the old paint from the engraving. This did avoid
the risk of damaging the engraving with a sharp tool. I found after several
coats to finish the panel that the engraving was filled, so I brushed the new
paint out of the engraving and then used a couple of light coats around the
lettering and a lot of fine sanding to blend all the paint. When it was all
done and the engraving filled with a paint stick, it looks great, but it was
a lot of work.
I thought the SP-400 was stenciled, but recently someone told me it has
engraved lettering like the older Super-pros.
