Agree with you 100%. The HQ-180 is a general coverage "ham" receiver and the
SP-600 is a general coverage professional receiver, with robust
construction.
I used the SP-600 for CW and RTTY, and now only for CW and some AM SWL'ing
and was never bothered by the lack of a product detector. For SSB I can use
my TMC GPR-90 with the GSB-1 SSB adapter.
BTW I had the GSB-1 before I acquired the GPR-90 and used it very
successfully with the SP-600 for a few years.
