[Hammarlund] HQ-129

I just picked up a nice HQ-129 and am looking forward to getting it into tip-top shape. I've noticed a few mods and want to get some information on what these mods are and if they are worth keeping:

1. The 6H6 has been replaced with a socket containing what looks like a couple of resistors;

2. The 6SJ7 has been replaced with a socket going to a floating metal box. On the outside of the box is a 455 kHz crystal; and

3. Some of the original paper caps have been replaced with Argonne brand caps (white with blue lettering). Has anyone ever heard of this brand? About how old are they and what kind of quality?
