Bob,

I recently overhauled an SX-42. Some of the slugs in that radio take a
tool I have never owned, with two flat sides on an otherwise round
shaft. I found that the larger size kabob sticks made of bamboo can
be carved to just the right shape with a sharp knife or round file in
a shor time. The round file (about 3/8 or half inch in diameter) does
a nice job while leaving maximum material for strength.
